Dukes has a "headstart" to open the 2024 CFL as the Argonauts' starting quarterback, head coach Ryan Dinwiddie said Sunday, according to Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.com. "Cam proved last year he can win football games. When we got a chance to see him play, that's when he really excited us. He's gonna have a good future in this league," Dinwiddie said.

Chad Kelly (suspension) will miss the first nine games of the 2024 CFL season, and the team must have a backup plan for the first weeks of the campaign. Even though the team has been in conversations about adding another quarterback, Dukes was working with the first offense during the first day of training camp. Dukes started two games last season for Toronto, completing 39 of his 65 passes for two touchdowns and two interceptions.
